Can anyone give me info or share experiences about tires and wheels for a 1960 TBird HT (352): e.g.; any problems with wire wheels? best wheels and tires to buy? best place to buy? bias vs. radial ply tires? I am a bit wary of wire wheels because of adverse experience in 1960 with a 1956 TR2 sports car with wire wheels which needed repair about every 4-6 weeks. I don't want to repeat that on the TBird. But perhaps the construction has improved since way back then. Any help will be appreciated.

I'd guess you have wheels by now, but it's my first time at the site.FYI, I've had Kelsy Hayse whire wheels on my 1960 conv for 10 years, they are still perfect in every way. I have only put about 10000 miles on them, but I have done major speed work on motor etc, and I spin the tires regulary so the wheels have experienced some torque. The wheels were an option on the 61 bird, but look great on my 60. The only concession to potential wheel quality problem is the use of inner tubes, they were recommended even though tires were tubeless to insure no leakage through possible weld cracks on wires.
