Hello All, this is my first post on your board. I am into Classic Fords, I'm working on a 68 Mustang Fastback restoration right now. It looks like my next project may be a classic T-Bird for my wife. She's not crazy about stangs, but that's OK. I like the old T-Birds myself. I'm totally new to T-Birds and have a couple of questions. 1. What would a ballpark price range be, for a restoreable 55-57 T-Bird? I would want something that is pretty much complete and not a "rust bucket", although I can handle sheet metal replacement and do my own welding. 2. How hard are parts to find for 55-57 T-Birds? Mustang and Falcon folks (myself included) are spoiled, because parts are EASY to find.

Mustang parts are easy to find and cheap, not so with Tbirds, there are parts but it's a different league for parts and overall value. I would suggest looking on Ebay or the forums as they all have a classified section. Hemmings monthly is also a great source and all the vendors offer catalogs thru there as well. Welcome to the Tbird family, it is truely a step up in ride and class from the Stang.

Welcome eagle24.

In todays market I don't think there is such a thing as a "cheap" 55-57 T-Bird.

I am into the 1972 myself but know some who love the 55-57 and you are probably looking at a minimum of $10,000 for a 55-57 in "restoreable" condition, a turn-key 55-57 would probably set you back a minumum of $30-$40K.

4-5-6-birdman gave soem good advice, check some of the collector trade magazines, that is a good place to find one. You may also want to visit a few car shows in your area you may find some deals there.

Good luck and welcome to the T-Bird family Smile

Just found this on the "for sale and wanted" section:

1958 T-Bird for sale

It's a 1958 but he is only asking $1000 dirt cheap and it can't last. It was posted in August so it may be gone!

If you can't get there in a Thunderbird, the trip isn't worth taking!
