hi everyone, i am just writing to say hello as i have just joined up here after recently purchasing a lovely 68 tbird. she's a 2door with the 429 thunderjet block, inside has full black elictric leathers, bucket seats - the inside is absolutley MINT and im not joking its amazing. im only 19 and live in the uk so having one of these over here is quite something and a lot of people look at her as she is in such great condition. i have a few probs on her which i will run through just in case anyone here can help me out. i cannot seem to get the turn signals to work or the hazzards either - i have done once but they got stuck on and i couldnt turn them off but some how i did. i havent tried again.none of the drivers side electrics seem to work any more only the passenger side works.the interior light dims when i push the button for drivers window so im thinkin it must be the button itself. i havent a clue on taking to door card off and wouldnt like to try it until i really know what i'm doing or have a manule/book for this beast. when i bought the car it had no exhaust manifolds so i eventually got them from the thunderbird sanctuary which is in idaho i think for $680 but now i have the problem of fitting them and it seems like i may have to lift the engine or take the master cylinder off for one side etc. but im not sure - any ideas. also when they are fitted i understand that the exhaust is only supported at the rear of the car (15 bloody feet away from where it connects to the manifold) so are they going to crack and break again in the future - should i build a 'H' frame or something or get flexible pipes and run it from the manifold to the exhaust??? HELP ! another query is that the flip for the headlights dont work so im not sure what to do there. i know you lot are probably thinking that its seeming a bit of a banger but the body is really quite nice and i only picked her up for £1500 which i couldnt turn down. have a look at the pictures - anyone know what model she is as im unsure. i have the engine code which i found on the windscreen : 9J83N112768 is there any way of finding out any history about her??

anyways cheerz Chris Big Grin

This is our first post. Our family has a 1968 Thunderbird in good condition. Runs great. How can we go about selling it without going to ebay. We are in Cols Ohio. Thank you for any help you can give.

Bobbi,

Not sure why you didn't start your own topic here but there is a "For Sale" section on this site why not post there. There is also one on the Vintage Thunderbird Club Inc (VTCI) site. You could also use Hemmings. Good Luck.

Claw,

Sounds like you have a nice car. Your turn signal problem might be several things. Turn signal switch may have gone bad, the sequential unit in the trunk may be stuck. Could also be something as simple as a blown fuse. Your interior light dimming when trying a window could be a stuck motor. It may be drawing power, but can't move. Does your passenger window operate? You should be able to get a manual from John Draxler at the Thunderbird Ranch. I bought one for my '69 from him. You say that your exhaust manifolds aren't on. So, I'm thinking that the engine isn't running. This is why your headlight doors won't operate. The motors for them run off the engine vacuum. To get your door panels off, you must first take off the arm rest. Becareful, as the plastic is old and brittle. That means it can crack and break easily. You can then undo the clips that hold the panel on. They are around the the edges. It would be best if you bought a tool do do this. It looks like a fat bladed screwdriver with a notch cut in it. Another good forum page to get help is at www.automotivemileposts.com. Look for the forum link. Good luck with your car.
