My 71 Thunderbird has some lighting issues. The dash lights are not responding to the headlight switch dimmer dial. Also my tail lights go out. Turn the car off and on and they both work fine for a while. Any ideas?
Thanks. |

It sounds like you have a short or a high current draw somewhere in the lighting system or you have a bad headlight switch. There is a circuit breaker built into the light switch and it will open the circuit when it heats up, then it will cool down and the lights will work again until it heats up and repeats the cycle. Check all the bulbs to make sure they are the correct ones and they are installed correctly and while you are at it clean the bulb sockets and the bulb contacts. Good luck and let us know what you find out.
